Cooperation Agreement approved

Lilburn City Council approved a Cooperation Agreement between the city, Gwinnett County, and the Lilburn Community Improvement District (CID). The current agreement expires on July 1, 2020. The agreement, which provides for the responsibilities and limits of each entity regarding public facilities within the District, is required by the Georgia Constitution and the Community Improvement Districts Act. Vote: 3-0

Button Art Sculpture coming to Lilburn

Council voted to allow the use of Public Art Funds for the purchase of a Button Art Sculpture for display. Button Art, Inc. is a nonprofit organization and the project was established in honor of Gwinnett County's 200th anniversary. Button Art will manage, create, and install 200 original life-sized Button Sculptures throughout Gwinnett County. The city's sculpture will feature unique artwork and should be a great photo opportunity for residents and visitors. The city will also receive a blank button with blackboard material for placement in Lilburn. Vote: 4-0

Text amendments approved

City Council approved text amendments to the Lilburn Zoning Ordinance of 2011 to accommodate the new use of Hookah/Vapor Bar or Lounge. The text amendments provide consistency between zoning and business licensing codes and provide a clearer explanation of the zoning ordinance. The amended ordinance is similar to that of Gwinnett County and the state. Vote: 4-0

Property acquisition protocol resolution approved

Resolution #2020-04 was approved. This resolution allows the City Manager to acquire low-value property by donation or purchase without a formal appraisal. Vote: 4-0
