Groundbreaking for New Luxury Apartment Community

On May 20th, city officials, along with teams from RangeWater Real Estate and New South Construction, gathered for a celebratory groundbreaking ceremony marking the start of an exciting new development in Old Town Lilburn. At the event, the name of the new luxury apartment community was officially revealed: Porchline.

This transformative project is the result of a dynamic public-private partnership and includes both upscale apartments and a multi-level parking deck. Porchline is more than just a new place to live—it’s a catalyst for activation and revitalization in the heart of Old Town. The development is expected to bring new energy, walkability, and economic vitality to the area while maintaining the charm and community focus that make Lilburn special.

Stay tuned for updates as we watch this exciting project take shape! Follow the Progress

Save the Date for Rock the Park

The first concert of Lilburn's event season will be here before you know it! Make plans to Rock the Park with Her Majesty's Request and opening act Wesley and the Ridge Riders on Saturday, June 7th from 7 to 9:30 p.m. in Lilburn City Park.

Short Term Rentals

A short-term rental (STR) is a residential property that is rented out for a period of less than 30 consecutive days. These rentals are commonly listed on platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo and are often used by visitors looking for temporary lodging.

If you're a resident considering operating a short-term rental—or if you simply want to understand how they are regulated in our city—you can find helpful information, including requirements and guidelines, on our website.

Being informed helps ensure our neighborhoods remain safe, vibrant, and welcoming for both residents and visitors!

Comp Plan Update

The Steering Committee for Lilburn’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan Update held its kickoff meeting on May 14th, 2025. Members were introduced to the planning process, discussed how the plan will guide future growth and inform city zoning updates, and worked in groups to explore different land use scenarios for key areas across Lilburn.

This meeting set the foundation for a collaborative and transparent planning process, ensuring that the updated Comprehensive Plan reflects both community values and the City’s vision for sustainable, balanced growth. This effort is a joint effort between the City and the Lilburn Community Improvement District, with TSW serving as facilitator.

The Steering Committee will meet 7 more times over the next year, with the next steering committee meeting set to be held in early July. Throughout this important process there will be opportunities for involvement, such as at the Splash Bash event held last Saturday, May 24th. Stay tuned for future opportunities to engage.

RequestTracker Update

The City is aware of ongoing issues with the RequestTracker system, particularly when accessed on mobile devices. An upgrade to improve performance and usability is scheduled to be implemented in the coming weeks. The new, upgraded platform will be called SeeClickFix. We appreciate your patience as we work to enhance your experience.

Greenway Trail Closure & Update

Friendly reminder that a short section of the trail is closed while significant stormwater improvements are made. The construction of the luxury apartments and parking deck presented an opportunity to make these improvements while other work was taking place.

Budget Update

City staff have been hard at work preparing the proposed budget for July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026, and the city manager presented the balanced, $41M recommended budget to the Mayor and Council during the May 12 work session. The operating budget, primarily funded by the $14M General Fund, provides needed resources for critical city services including police, code enforcement, planning and zoning, street and park maintenance, splash pad operations, chipper service, and administration.

The primary funding source for the General Fund is property tax. Staff project a 9.7% increase in property tax revenue from 2024 to 2025, adding approximately $300k to the budget. The increase in property tax revenue is due to new construction and the reassessment of existing property in the city, as there is no proposed increase in the city's millage rate of 4.430 in 2025. The Gwinnett County Tax Assessor's Office is responsible for assessing the value of all property in incorporated and unincorporated areas of the county.

The proposed FY25-26 budget includes a new full-time position for park maintenance, additional funding for police overtime, and a cost-of-living increase of 3.2% for city staff. The Mayor and Council will vote on the budget at their June meeting.

Memorial Flags

As you drive down Main Street this week, you’ll see veteran flags and markers lining both sides. The City of Lilburn is deeply grateful to those who served, protecting the freedoms we enjoy today. The City of Lilburn is deeply grateful to those who served, protecting the freedoms we enjoy today.
