The Lilburn Loop: June 2

Thank You for Coming to the Splash Bash!

Last week's May 24 Splash Bash and Children’s Entrepreneur Market were a huge success! We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and the community showed up in full force. Families enjoyed shopping with our talented young entrepreneurs, dancing to the beats of DJ Matt, and staying cool at the splash pad. It was the perfect way to kick off summer fun in the park!

Recap from May 27th’s Special Called Meeting

At Monday night’s Special Called Meeting, City Council voted to move forward with improvements to stormwater infrastructure in the Old Town area. The decision leverages the current construction activity along Railroad Avenue, creating an opportunity to address long-needed upgrades while work on the new parking deck is underway. Coordinating these projects will help minimize future disruptions and enhance the area’s long-term resilience.

May 27 Special Called Meeting Agenda

Recap from May 28th’s DDA Meeting

At its meeting Wednesday night, the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) approved three agenda items related to the ongoing project on Railroad Avenue:

  • Change Order for Parking Deck Construction | The DDA approved a change order to the existing contract with New South Construction for the public/private parking deck project.
  • Stormwater Agreement with the City | An intergovernmental agreement between the DDA and the City of Lilburn was approved, allowing the use of stormwater user fees to address runoff concerns southeast of the Young Estates neighborhood. The pipes were found to be undersized, and the current construction along Railroad Avenue presented an opportunity to increase the size of the pipe to accommodate the need.
  • Temporary Easement for Construction Support | The DDA also approved a temporary easement agreement with New South Construction for the use of 57 Railroad Avenue. The site will be used for material and equipment storage and will house a temporary construction trailer.

These approvals mark important steps in advancing infrastructure improvements and supporting responsible development in downtown Lilburn.
