The Lilburn Loop: September 1
City Offices Closed Today (Monday, 9/1) for Labor Day
City of Lilburn offices will be closed on Monday, September 1, in observance of Labor Day. We wish everyone a safe and fun holiday. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, September 2. Have a happy Labor Day, Lilburn!
Sanitation Services Delayed This Week for Labor Day
Due to the Labor Day holiday, all trash and recycling routes this week will be delayed by one day. (Monday's service will be collected on Tuesday, September 2 instead, Tuesday's will be collected on Wednesday, and so forth, with Friday's service being collected on Saturday, September 6.) Recap from the August 28 Planning Commission Hearing
The Planning Commission met Thursday, August 28th, 2025, to hear the case for the Rezoning of 4 parcels on Arcado Rd from R1 (Residential) to MU (Mixed Use). Staff requested a tabling of the hearing to the regularly scheduled September 25th, 2025, Planning Commission meeting. This was done to ensure that messaging regarding the date of the hearing was clearly communicated to all citizens so that they may express their support or opposition.
The Planning Commission will reconvene on September 25th, 2025, to hear the case in full. The public is encouraged to provide written comments to city staff via the link provided or to attend the September 25th hearing to provide their comments in support or opposition.
Once the Planning Commission has voted on a recommendation, the City Council will hear the case for the application at the October 13th, 2025 City Council Hearing.
City staff has arranged for the applicant to host a Q&A session in the City Council Chambers on September 11 at 7 p.m.

Goats in the Park are Off to Graze New Pastures
We hope you have enjoyed seeing the goats out in Lilburn City Park these past weeks! The furry overachievers have now munched all they needed to, though, and as of Sunday are off to their next job.
The goats were brought to the park on August 23 to help staff tackle kudzu on the far side of the creek. These natural landscapers are an eco-friendly way to control vegetation and keep the park looking its best.

Lily's Bridge Dedication
Lily’s Bridge in Lilburn City Park was inspired by the beloved “Rainbow Bridge” poem, which comforts pet lovers with the promise of reunion with their companions one day.
The idea was first brought forward by longtime rescue advocates Ted and Sandi Wright and brought to life by park staff April Hill and Mel Getz, who envisioned the spur bridge over Camp Creek as a place of remembrance. Chosen through staff suggestions, the name honors a small dog named Lily who was once found in the park, later adopted, and now lives nearby.
To our knowledge, Lily’s Bridge is the only pet memorial bridge in the Southeast, offering a meaningful space where residents can leave mementos such as collars or tags to honor their pets. More than a bridge, it is a symbol of healing, compassion, and the strong sense of community that defines Lilburn.

Property Tax Bills Update
This year, City of Lilburn property tax bills will be mailed a little later than usual. Bills will be sent out on October 1, 2025, with a due date of December 1, 2025. New Ordinance on Solicitation in Lilburn
The City of Lilburn has passed an ordinance to clarify when and where solicitation can take place and to prevent aggressive solicitation, particularly on private property. The goal is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of our community.
Key points of the ordinance:
- Private property (residential, commercial, or otherwise designated) – Solicitation is only allowed if you have been requested, invited, or given permission by the lawful occupant. Written proof of permission must be shown if requested by law enforcement.
- Public safety areas – Solicitation is prohibited within 15 feet of public buildings, financial institutions, check-cashing businesses, or ATMs, unless permission has been granted. (If an ATM is inside, the distance is measured from the entrance/exit.)
- Behavior restrictions – It is unlawful to solicit while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Aggressive conduct – Prohibited actions include blocking someone’s path, touching or following them after they’ve responded, or any behavior intended to cause fear of harm or property loss.
This ordinance ensures that solicitation, when permitted, occurs in a safe and respectful manner for all.

Railroad Avenue Project Update: Greenway Trail REOPENS
The most exciting news this week is that the Greenway Trail is open! Crews have poured the trail back in place, and it can be enjoyed with these cooler temperatures. On the development side, precast panels are now more than 65% complete, and work is moving into the next section of the parking deck and podium.
